Possibility

There are times in life when you feel like there’s no escape from anything. You feel that you are stuck in a loop of constant surviving, but not living. You feel that you’re tied to one place and there is no way to break free and pursue those dreams of yours that you always wanted to achieve. However, that is a simple misconception of your mind. Firstly, society feels stuck because of the financial situation and commitment. Commitment is a big one, as it is hard to be ‘cage free’ when you are committed to certain surroundings (work, family). It is not a negative thing, that is for sure. But if a person feels that he/she is stuck, then it is a concern and there is something needs to be done. Secondly, you cannot be stuck in one place. There are always numerous options for you to do. If you feel that you are tied financially, you are wrong. Money do not decide everything in this world, even though it feels like they do, but that is a simple misconception. Money do not decide anything. They are not in control of your life. You are in control of your life. Simple desire, some effort, strong wilful thinking and you can already achieve almost anything. Of course money is important, because our society is based on economy reliance, however it doesn’t mean you have to surrender to the system (no matter how cheesy that sounds). We must not forget that we are humans and we are capable of achieving anything we want.

You

Sometimes we forget that the most important person is you. Don’t get me mistaken, you do have people that you love more than ever, but sometimes you need to make sure you are the most important person. It is not selfish to take care of yourself and make sure you always have time for yourself. Even if you feel that you don’t need the time, you do. You need to stay with your thoughts and feelings, as they are very complex and you need the time to go through all of them, otherwise it will be a clutter of emotions that you cannot control. And it’s not selfish not doing something that you’re not up to, but spending the time with yourself. You can do that later when you feel refreshed and well-rested. You need the peace and quietness for your mind. You cannot live in busy and fast environment all the time. Many people forget to have a little break from the outside world. If you don’t have harmony within you, how can you find harmony with the outside world? Harmony and peace inside should be on your to do list. And not just for one week or month, but for your whole life. It doesn’t take a long time to relax and “take it easy”. Don’t push yourself towards something you are not ready for and do not overwork.

Stress is one of the greatest enemies that we have in 21st century. Especially with so much going on in the world. You want to do everything and find time for every little thing. It is great if you enjoy fast paced lifestyle, however I’m sure you enjoy a quiet little evening watching your favorite tv show and eating Tim Tams or other chocolate delights (I’m totally not doing that). Rest, silence and meditation are essential, even if you feel that not much stuff is going on in your life at the moment. Of course it is vital to communicate and see your friends and family, but don’t forget about the most important person – YOU.

A Year

A year is a long time, but maybe not. You can live somewhere and discover many new things, you find friends and people that you love, but at the same time you don’t know if that’s forever. I guess we never really think about how long friendship is going to last with the person you’ve just met. And that’s a great thing about it. We meet people, then we don’t see them, but then we see them again. I have friends from many countries and recently met a good old friends of mine that I used to see very often when we used to leave in one country. That was great, and it feels so warm and just nice when you meet people that you haven’t seen for a long time and didn’t know when and at what point of your life you would see them. It’s great to travel the world and find new things. But the most important thing, always and it will be is about people and friendship, communication and interaction. Those are our basic functions and needs. Do we judge experiences by evaluating human interaction? For instance, when you attend certain places, you look out for people in that place. When you move countries, when you watch films (they interact with you and we get impression from actors communication within the film), when you are alone (you are aware of being alone and having time for yourself, self-interaction and communication). So do we really define and judge time with feels and connections made? Of course we can calculate literate time, but by vaguely ‘counting’ it and defining the ‘feel of the length’, therefore is time really countable? If we think about it, why does it feel that time flies fast or crawls like a snail?

A year is a lot, but not. Many things can happen during the year, but it flies very fast. It sounds like a lot, but in reality it might not be. It is not a lot, just because it feels like it. It feels like time flies by fast. However, even a day is a long time for certain things and certain people. It depends in what perspective you put that definition of ‘long’. Time is fairly uncountable, as it can be measured by feels and minutes, actions and judgements. This might be a bit confusing, but we judge time by our feels mostly. When you remember how you’ve spent your year, you’d say that it’s been great and eventful, therefore – fast; if it was relaxing and chill – slow.

Every day is important. You meet people, get that connection and experience. We learn and we teach. Years are passing by and coming. Years are chapters in our book.

Digital story: Frankie the Fly

I have created a digital story in a group about Frankie the Fly.

We have tried to bring the attention to flies or any small creatures. We often forget that they have feelings too. We have made a story as you would see it as a witness. Stop the killing.

The video is short in order to keep the audience interested. Usually if the video is short it is more likely that the person will spend a moment to watch it. The video was filmed on IPhone 3s. It is not necessary to have something in a high quality to make it interesting and viral on the Internet.

We have made a research on digital storytelling and what are the most successful ways to create it, as well as which mediums are the best in terms of spread. The inspiration for this story was flipped lecture “When the journalist becomes the story”.

We have also created Facebook and Twitter pages in order to engage people more with the story.

We have also made posters that are situated in the RMIT university and around the city.

The QR code will bring you to the Facebook page.

Overall, we have tried to reach the audience using various mediums such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and printed media (poster). The video was filmed on IPhone 3s. It was edited in Final Cut Pro. We have used royalty free music and images online.

Gamification: Testing the game

While playing the game I have made a tweet in order to get the reward.

Screen Shot 2013-02-15 at 01.04.46

I have played the game and I think that everything worked pretty well. I was scanning QR codes and then I have collected the letters that made a hashtag I have to tweeted with. Instructions were clear. When I have tweeted, I have got the response with the reward: the link to the website where I have read about interesting facts about Alice in Wonderland. Everything had been thought really carefully. QR codes contained letters with hashtags and links to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter where you could find letters as well. And when you’ve got the wrong answer, QR code just gives you a link to the post to go back and try again. The storyline is precise, because you are doing everything in steps and do not confuse yourself.

I think the only thing that did not work, was non-automatic response. You won’t get the message at exact the same moment as you tweeted.

Before I have created the game I have tried to set the automatic response to a person that tweets with a hashtag or just tweets to a person. I have spent a lot of time on research and on setting up this function, but at the end it did not work. But overall, even without the automatic response, everything works pretty good, and I find this game very interesting. It is simple, but at the same time makes your brains to think.
